James R. Sposato

  

Commander Sposato is a native of Vineland, New Jersey. A 32 year Navy Veteran, he enlisted in the Navy in 1987 soon after graduating Buena Regional High School and in 1995 was commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer.  


Operationally, he has served and led during peacetime, major conflicts and regional contingencies. He served as a Division Officer on board USS CARR (FFG 52) and USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66); Department Head on board USS LABOON (DDG 58), USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66), and USS STOUT (DDG 55); and Executive Officer in USS CARR (FFG 52). He also served as a Joint Planner for United States Strategic Command Center for Combatting Weapons of Mass Destruction (SCC-WMD), Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Deputy Historian for United States Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A), Kabul, Afghanistan; Operational Test Director and Coordinator at Operational Test and Evaluation Force (OPTEVFOR), Norfolk, Virginia; and Executive Officer, Undersea Warfighting Development Center, Norfolk, Virginia.


He graduated highest academic honors from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College and earned a Master of Arts degree in Business and Organizational Security Management while attending night school at Webster University. He also graduated highest honors from The Air War College with a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Studies and was subsequently awarded The General Charles G. Boyd Award for excellence in academics.   

His personal awards include, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, two Meritorious Service Medals, three Navy Commendation Medals, five Navy Achievement Medals, and various unit citations and campaign awards. 


He is the proud father of three daughters and has a passion for service and meeting the needs of our veterans.
